Schools and Kindies
I’ve been fortunate to work with a number of Schools and Kindergartens on their promotional imagery.
As well as the obvious need for photography skills, I believe the other gifts I bring are a warmth and understanding that I’m usually working with teachers and students who don’t necessarily feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Having the ability to workshop ways to create an image that sends the message they are wanting to, is part of the process and I have regularly been appreciated for my approach. Sometimes using humour, sometimes authentic role playing, sometimes just clear and concise direction that gets the results quickly!
With the Kindies, though, it’s usually having a keen eye for the spontaneous and candid wonderful experiences happening in the grounds. I love this sort of work and if I could do it every day – well I’d be a happy person! More please!
Here are some examples that are currently being used on websites, firstly for Cabra Dominican College who have used me for profile images of staff, and showing students interacting with eachother, teachers and the wider school environment.
Ocean View College booked me in late 2025 for updated imagery for their website. We captured a range of spaces in the school, as well as age groups and activity. Some of my fondest memories were guiding students to look like they were actually ‘doing what they were doing’ , and we had some giggles in the Home Ec room as the parfaits in action sometimes had questionable appearance.
Principal Sonia Pringle said this at the end of our time together:
“We are so thankful for all of your time, energy, patience, technical skill, artistic arrangements and for being an all round star. I am so glad we connected and that you also enjoyed the OVC experience!”
Students and teachers were so responsive and willing to trust my suggestions. Some of our results are now on their website – see below.
I’ve also worked with Kindergartens and some examples from J B Cleland can be seen below. They have since chosen to use me as their Student Portrait photographer which I only do for a select few who match in with my style and approach.
Newland Park Kindergarten also have a wonderful gallery of their spaces and activities on their website thanks to the investment of about 2 hours of largely candid photography time.
